*saturday dinner & games

I’m getting excited that a few of our couple friends are coming over Saturday for some dinner and games! We have got together 2 other times since moving back to Indiana. I plan on serving baked brie, homemade chili, and apple cobbler!

I’ve known Jared since first grade and he married his high school sweetheart, Kirsten. Daniel has known Steven since junior high, they were best friends for the longest time. Steven is married to his high school sweetheart, Cyndi. I didn’t start hanging out with Cyndi until the end of our junior year, and she set behind me in 1st period the fall of our senior year. They are expecting their first child in June and it’s a boy! Then you have Fred and his wife Laura. Daniel and I knew Fred through band and the same friends in high school. He met Laura during college at Indiana University! She fits in so well the group!

In August we had everyone over for the first time. We played Cash n’ Guns, a game where you get to point fake guns at your friends and spouse. I think we had a little too much fun with that! (from the lower left- Steven, Kirsten, Daniel, Jared,  & Fred). And even with the lovely meal I prepared for them the killed me first! I call them my friends?!?

We have also played the Resistance and One Night Werewolf. We tried playing the Newlywed game, but the questions were either confusing or way to personal. Don’t worry Daniel and I won that game!

I’m not sure what games we will play this weekend. Steven is the gamer of the group! I just bake the goodies!

*married to my best friend

My husband and I go way back…

In junior high I remember Daniel having a crush on one of my best friends, she was completely creeped out by him. I was interested in a lot of boys at that age, so I don’t remember him giving me his school picture with his phone number at a school dance. During high school summer gym (probably June 2004), he told me to my face that I was ugly (he recalls he was just joking). That same summer he brought a sign dvd of the Batman Animated series to talk about it during speech class! What a dork!

(pictured above our 2005 junior pictures)

Our Junior year, I thought I try to be a little smarter and take AP US History. Daniel sat right behind me and Drew Storen set next to me. Of course I was more interested in Drew! I only lasted to the first report card in that class before switching to regular US History. A month later I heard Daniel was having a party during our fall break that a few of my friends were going to. I really wanted to go to a party! Come to find out, Daniel wasn’t all geek, he knew how to throw a party! It was so fun that I came back the next night for another party! German exchange students were in town so the party got a little bigger and pretty crowded in the basement! Daniel and his two best friends went up stairs. My best friend, Amanda (who was interested in Tyler, Daniel’s best friend) and I followed. We were all hanging out in the guest bedroom, that Daniel had turned into a green screen room. A little later after we were all joking around, Tony (Daniel’s friend) dared him to kiss me! Daniel marched over and planted a juicy kiss (don’t worry, I still give him a hard time about it). Our first picture was taken moments later:

It was definitely not the best picture of my life! He walked me to my car that night and kissed me on the forehead, which made me feel special!

What I haven’t told you yet, is that he was obsessed with Batman! He had a room at his dad’s house wall to wall covered in Batman collectables! It was insane collection for a 17 year old (pictures here)! He has also attended several Comic Con International conventions, in San Diego (even before it was popular)!

Our first year and a half of dating was a roller coaster! We fought all the time, he had commitment issues, so we also broke up all the time. It wasn’t until we graduated high school that we were rid of our teenage drama. Daniel spent his first year of college at Chapman University, in Orange, California. Being 2,000 miles away really tests a relationship. During his second year he decided to transfer to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Daniel proposed in July of 2009 on Huntington Beach on our way to Comic Con. His mom was able to take photos as it was happening. We lived together in Muncie from fall 2010 to June 2011, so Daniel could finish his last year at Ball State.

We were married in our hometown on June 11, 2011 at my parent’s church. I didn’t want it to be a fancy affair on a limited budget so we went with a summer fun theme. Our reception had fun finger food, pop corn, cotton candy, candy bar, and a photo booth! Check out our Wedding Day Montage video!

Daniel is definitely my forever love. He has been my partner in crime for over 9 years. I cannot imagine my life without him; he is my best friend, travel companion, partner and protector! I’m so blessed to have him beside me in this crazy life! He is the best adventure I’ve decided to take!
